Summary

Duties

  • You will direct the overall performance of the branch, holding full administrative and technical responsibility for planning, directing, and controlling all inspection work performed within the Machine Repair, Ship Fitting, Metals, and Foundry shops.
  • You will serve as the lead technical authority on the techniques, practices, and equipment capabilities for the branch’s inspection and non-destructive testing operations.
  • You will provide authoritative consultation to senior management on production quality matters.
  • You will develop and manage the long-range schedule for all work performed within the branch, using input from Program Management, Production, and Engineering.
  • You will analyze and resolve conflicts concerning work packages and project schedules.
  • You will review and analyze production problems and quality discrepancies.
  • You will recommend or institute corrective actions, develop new operating instructions, and establish enhanced standards of quality.
  • You will lead a team of quality assurance specialists as well as plan and assign work, set priorities, evaluate performance, make hiring decisions, and provide technical guidance and instruction to subordinates.
  • You will perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower pay band, NH-02 (or GS-11 equivalency) in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public applying quality assurance principles and inspection techniques in a heavy industrial, manufacturing, or production environment.
