This vacancy is for a Trade and Industry Analyst in the Department of Commerce, Bureau of Industry and Security, Office of the Assistant Secretary of Export Administration, Office of Strategic Industries and Economic Security, Defense Programs Divison.

Duties

• As a Trade and Industry Analyst, you will perform the following duties: Researches, analyzes, and interprets complex trade and industry data and information. Identifies problems in program operations and makes recommendations to resolve complicated issues involving regulatory compliance, technical obstacles, or delivery of services and programs. Performs program management and regulatory oversight and addresses issues impacting businesses or the public. Analyzes and evaluates programs and issues related to the U.S industrial base, national security, and/or critical technologies. This Job Opportunity Announcement may be used to fill other Trade and Industry Analyst GS-1101-12, FPL GS-13 positions within the Department of Commerce in the same geographical location or local commuting area with the same qualifications and specialized experience.

Qualifications

Qualification requirements in the vacancy announcements are based on the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook, which contains federal qualification standards. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. This experience need not have been in the federal government. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies; knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. To qualify at the GS-12 level: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: You must possess one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as: Providing program support to national security programs that support U.S. defense industrial base and preparedness activities; and Assisting senior staff members on complex issues; conducting research; developing options; assisting in document reviews; and recommending further action; and Establishing and maintaining strong working relationships with interagency/interdepartmental partners and other stakeholders.
