The primary purpose of this position is to advance AFLCMC's ability to acquire, develop, support and sustain Products and Services by generating logistics solutions and supporting personnel.

Duties

  • Provides MAJCOM functional managers resolutions to complex system problems. Recommends tests, equipment modifications, training for users and maintainers, and correction to design deficiencies through evaluation of operational capability of systems/equipment and review of performance data against standards. Assists in troubleshooting and repairing difficult and unusual problems including those which have not been previously resolved. Acts as Technical Content Manager for assigned technical data. Assists in troubleshooting and repairing difficult and unusual problems. Designs special test procedures, develops special maintenance procedures, and develops and conducts technical training for maintainers and operators.

BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT: EDUCATION: Undergraduate Education: Major study -- any field of study in an accredited college or university. Graduate Education: Major study -- fields related to the position to be filled. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts. OR COMBINING EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least 1 year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the next lower broadband NH-02, equivalent to the next lower grade GS-11 or equivalent in other pay systems. Specialized experience is experience in directing the maintenance, lifecycle support, and optimization of complex assigned systems and equipment; troubleshooting and resolving unprecedented, highly complex technical problems to provide actionable resolutions to MAJCOM functional managers; evaluating operational capabilities against performance standards to recommend critical equipment modifications, specialized testing, and design deficiency corrections; acting as a Technical Content Manager to interpret and manage engineering drawings and technical manuals; and planning, prioritizing, and designing technical training programs for operators and maintainers while ensuring strict compliance with safety, security, and personnel management regulations. NOTE: Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of a wide range of maintenance concepts, principles, and practices of specific systems/equipment that are assigned. Knowledge of safety, security, personnel management, and EEO regulations, practices, and procedures. Skill in providing technical advice in terms of oral and written briefings, reports, and recommendations to senior leadership and maintenance technicians; and developing interpersonal relationships, maintaining good working relationships, and working cooperatively as a member of a team. Skill in analyzing and interpreting engineering drawings, technical manuals, and technical date; and, identifying and analyzing complex technical problems and developing innovative solutions. Ability to plan, organize, and re-prioritize work to meet changing deadlines. Ability to develop and conduct training to ensure proper maintenance of assigned systems/equipment; and communicate well both orally and in writing. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
