The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the Force Support Squadron (FSS) Director, responsible for managing the activities of the organization and ensuring subordinate supervisors meet their organizational goals and objectives.
Duties
- Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities Directs, plans, organizes, and oversees the activities of the Force Support Squadron (FSS). Directs the mission and establishes goals of the organization consistent with Command and AF strategic plans. Makes comprehensive assessments and evaluations of program goals/objectives which provide a basis for long-range planning to enhance the management support capabilities of the FSS.
Qualifications
Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions. This is a Key Career Position (KCP) within the Force Support career field. While not a requirement for consideration, candidates who have completed grade-appropriate Professional Military Education (PME) and hold a bachelor's degree or higher will be considered highly competitive. These attributes are valued as they demonstrate a commitment to professional development and readiness for senior leadership roles. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least 1 year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the next lower broadband NH-03, equivalent to the next lower grade GS-13 or equivalent in other pay systems. Specialized experience is experience in providing accurate guidance and direction to subordinate managers/employees regarding policies, procedures, directives of upper management, and administrative matters. This experience must have been at a level of difficulty and complexity sufficient to demonstrate the ability to perform the duties of this position. It may have been gained in the private sector, volunteer service, military service, and/or government service, etc.. NOTE: Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of a wide range of manpower concepts, principles, operations, laws, regulations, programs, and practices; knowledge of a wide range of personnel (civilian and military) concepts, principles, operations, laws, regulations, programs, and practices; knowledge of a wide range of services concepts, principles, operations, laws, regulations, programs, and practices; and practical knowledge of education, readiness, and budget execution concepts, principles, operations, and practices. 2. Extensive knowledge of the mission, roles, functions, organizational structure, management, and operation of large organizations to provide high level staff guidance, and participate in the development of goals, objectives, and policies. 3. Knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures related to developing, planning, budgeting, and coordinating activities, programs, facility programming, contracting, and customer interests and needs. 4. Knowledge of safety, security, personnel management, Military Equal Opportunity (MEO) and Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) regulations, practices, and procedures. 5. Skill in managing the work operations of multiple organizational segments to meet program requirements, goals, and objectives within available resources. 6. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and mentor, motivate, and appraise the staff of an organization directly and through subordinate supervisors. 7. Ability to utilize Air Force Sustainment Center (AFSC) Art of the Possible (AoP) principles and concepts to lead a team of subordinate personnel through coaching, communication, planning, organizing, and direction to facilitate work assignments. 8. Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and with technical accuracy, both orally and in writing, lead a diverse squadron, as well as work in a professional manner with peers, management, contractors, academia, and other agencies. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
