Summary

This position is located in the Chairman's Office of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) in Washington, DC and supports the Chairman's Executive Team with a high degree of responsibility and independent judgement in performing administrative/operational work under general supervision of the Chief of Staff. This position requires a daily work schedule that concludes at 5:00pm or later based on organizational needs, and may be discussed in more detail during interview process.

Duties

  • Evaluates complex and sensitive inquiries to determine which require the attention of the Chairman's Executive Team or other organizations within the FDIC. Reviews and screens correspondence of a highly confidential, personal, or sensitive nature and assures that responses reflect the approach, style, views, and policies of the FDIC and the Executive Team. Screens calls and greets visitors to the Chairman's Office. Provides substantive information to visitors and callers. Serves as point of contact with officials of other Government departments, Members of Congress and staff members of Congressional committees, banking officials, members of the press, officers of organizations and others inquiring about the FDIC's operational matters. Coordinates domestic and international travel arrangements for the Executive Team. Provides detailed itineraries and changes travel plans/arrangements as necessary. Conducts or contributes to complex projects and/or studies, facilitating data, information and input across the FDIC. Compiles information from numerous sources in order to prepare a variety of regular or ad hoc reports, tables, charts, spreadsheets, presentations and summaries for use by FDIC staff and management. Reviews reports, correspondence, and other materials forwarded for the Executive Team's signature for completeness and accuracy. Returns inadequate submissions for completion and follows up to assure that resubmissions are made. Prepares and signs responses to inquiries which do not require the Executive Team's attention and are not appropriate for delegation to subordinate staff. Attends staff meetings as requested and notes items requiring action.

Qualifications

Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sector. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious/spiritual; community; student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Additional qualifications information can be found here. To qualify, applicants must have completed at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the grade 12 level or above in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience: 1) Providing administrative and operational support (e.g., managing meeting schedules, travel arrangements, public appearances) to senior leaders within an office or division; 2) Analyzing reports, proposals, or correspondence directed to senior leaders and preparing recommendations for official response; and 3) Serving as a liaison between senior leaders and internal/external stakeholders to coordinate follow-up actions, resolve issues, and complete assignments.
