Summary

The Primary Purpose of the Position is:To exercise technical and administrative supervision over subordinate Housekeeping Aids in accomplishing the environmental mission of the Environmental Management Service. The Organizational Location of the Position is:This position is located in the Environmental Sanitation Section, Environmental Management Service, VA North Texas Health Care System. The incumbent is under the immediate supervision of the Assistant Hospital Housekeeping Officer.

Duties

  • As a Housekeeping Aid Supervisor, you will play a vital role in maintaining a safe, clean, and sanitary environment for Veterans, staff, and visitors. You will provide technical and administrative supervision to Housekeeping Aid Leaders and Housekeeping Aids while ensuring compliance with VA environmental standards and Medical Center policies. Major duties include: Work Planning Responsibilities Plans and coordinates daily and project-based work involving staff, equipment, facilities, and materials. Follows established priorities, schedules, and work plans and adjusts them as needed. Tracks progress, resolves routine problems such as equipment failures or staffing shortages, and recommends changes to improve workflow. Maintains sanitation standards in assigned areas with general supervision. Work is routinely inspected for quality and compliance with standards. Ensures proper and economical use of materials, cleaning equipment, and power machines. Reports safety or fire hazards and follows all prescribed safety regulations. Work Direction Responsibilities Provides technical and administrative direction to Housekeeping Aid Leaders and Housekeeping Aids. Assigns work, guides staff through difficult tasks, and monitors progress to ensure schedules and work requirements are met. Reassigns personnel as needed and coordinates workflow across teams. Inspects completed work for quality and compliance. Reports actual or potential delays to supervisors. Administrative Responsibilities Supports supervisors in developing performance plans, communicating expectations, and delivering feedback. Recommends performance ratings, recognition, or corrective actions. Explains classification decisions and recommends staffing changes when needed for efficient operations. Assists in resolving employee grievances informally when possible and informs supervisors of significant issues. Recommends training based on mission needs and maintains required records, including production, cost, personnel, attendance, and equipment. Assists with planning overall leave schedules. Promotes and ensures adherence to Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and Equal Opportunity Treatment (EOT) principles. Helps implement affirmative action initiatives and supports efforts to prevent or address discrimination or harassment. Cooperates with counselors, investigators, and examiners as required. Reports all security violations promptly and submits required reports. Immediately alerts appropriate personnel when conditions pose hazards to safety or health. Work Environment Work is performed primarily in patient care, administrative, and support areas throughout the Medical Center. Duties require standing, walking, bending, lifting, and safe use of cleaning materials and powered equipment. Appropriate protective gear must be worn as required. Work Schedule: Monday-Sunday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM, 11:00 PM to 7:30 AM. Weekends and Rotating Holidays. Qualifications

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities.
