Summary

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic Defense Industrial Base (DIB) & Major Range and Test Facilities Base (MRTFB) in DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This position serves as Hazardous Materials Handler Leader working alongside, others setting the pace for receiving, storing, issuing, shipping, and re-warehousing hazardous materials.

Duties

• Work along with other workers, setting the pace.
• Answer workers questions regarding procedures, policies, written instructions, and other directives (e.g., technical orders).
• Obtains needed information or decisions from the supervisor on problems that come up during the work.
• Ensures that the needed plans, blueprints, material, and tools are available and attained.
• Pass on to other workers instructions received from supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Hazardous Materials Handler Leader without more than normal supervision. ???????Which include the ability to safely handle hazardous materials, providing guidance on work tasks to ensure compliance procedures, and verifying stock numbers on incoming and outgoing materials. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Physical Efforts: Work us performed on hard surfaces and in work areas that required standing, stooping, bending, and climbing ladders. Responsibility: Works under the general supervision of a Hazardous Material Program Manager, who is available to give advice and assistance concerning work assignments. Work performed is subject to review for rate of progress, observance of safety rules and regulations, and for compliance with instructions. Due to the daily exposure to stored hazardous materials and the risk of hazardous substance releases, the employee must meet all training requirements of 29 CFR 1910.120 including prescribed core and annual refresher training. Medical surveillance will be required and the employee must be able to pass a medical exam for the respirator program.
