Registration Specialist

Summary

The Smithsonian Institution is the world's largest museum, education, and research complex, with 21 museums and the National Zoo. This position is located in is in the Office of the Registrar, Smithsonian's National Zoo and Conservation Biology Institute (NZCBI).

Duties

• The Registration Specialist is responsible for providing specialized registration support and ensuring the accountability and legal control of collections under the custody of NZCBI. In this position, you will: Maintain collection records related to acquisitions, accessions, and dispositions. Review and process collection transaction forms and records management actions. Maintain records and monitor activities related to loans, animal transfers, breeding arrangements, biomaterial transfers, and data requests. Coordinate archiving and digitization efforts and assists with digital asset management.

Qualifications

Experience: You qualify for this position if you have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 level in the Federal Service. For this position, specialized experience is defined as managing collection and data records, supporting digitization projects, maintaining acquisition and accession documentation, assisting with disposition activities, and following established data standards and procedures.
