Duties
- As a Mission Support Specialist, GS-12 level you will perform the following duties: Serves as a Subject Matter Expert on assigned administrative matters. Conducts or participates in the evaluation of administrative programs, concerning the efficiency and effectiveness of program operations. Maintains a high level of analytical ability to identify issues, recommend actions, and re-engineer processes. Applies a wide range of administrative programs, concepts, laws, policies, practices, and analytical diagnostic methods and techniques to address substantive matters that contain several interrelated issues.

You qualify for the GS-09 grade level if you possess one of the following: Experience: One (1) year of specialized experience at the GS-07 grade level or equivalent performing duties such as: Carrying out the assignments in conformance with accepted policies and practices for assigned program areas; Exercising judgment in selecting and applying available guidelines related to specific problems or issues; Applying practical knowledge of the basic concepts, principles, regulations, and policies related to logistics and procurement management; Identifying situations or issues and choosing the best approach according to established procedures and practices. OR Education: Have a master's degree (or equivalent graduate degree such as a L.L.B./J.D.) or two (2) academic years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of successfully completed education and experience. This will be calculated using your resume and unofficial transcripts or a list of courses/course hours submitted with your application. Time-in-Grade Requirements: Under competitive merit promotion procedures, any individual who is currently holding, or who has held within the previous 52 weeks, a General Schedule position under a non-temporary appointment in the competitive or excepted service, must meet "time-in-grade" requirements (have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade of the grade for which you are applying). Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to current employees applying for a Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. NOTE: All current or former Federal employees must provide a copy of their SF-50 (you may need to submit more than one), "Notice of Personnel Action" that indicates proof of status and time-in-grade eligibility. The SF-50 must include your position, title, series, grade, step, tenure (1 or 2), and type of service (Competitive or Excepted). Well-Qualified: Applicants possessing experience that exceeds the minimum qualifications of the position and demonstrates acceptable proficiency in all of the critical competencies, including all SPFs and appropriate QRFs as determined by the job analysis. Qualified: Applicants possessing experience that meets the minimum qualifications of the position and demonstrate basic proficiency in most of the critical competencies, including all SPFs and appropriate QRFs as determined by the job analysis. Failure to complete the interview may result in removal from further consideration. National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Current or Former Political Appointees: The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.
