Summary

About the Position: The Anniston Army Depot is located in Anniston, Alabama in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountain chain half way between Atlanta, GA and Birmingham, AL just off Interstate 20. The depot is the largest employer in Calhoun County with approximately 4000 employees.

Duties

  • Plan weekly and monthly work schedules and sequence of operations for subordinates.
  • Establish deadlines and priorities on the basis of general work schedules and methods and policies established by higher levels of supervision.
  • Explain work requirements, methods and procedures; Instruct subordinates in new procedures.
  • Investigates work related problems (e.g., low productivity) to identify causes; implements those corrective actions that can be taken within the limits of incumbents authority.
  • Develops performance standards, counsels employees on performance, and makes formal and informal performance appraisals.
  • Perform machining work involving the use of a wide range of non-conventional machine tools to fabricate, repair, or modify components and assemblies supporting the maintenance and repair mission
  • Perform selective plating, spot-resistance welding, vacuum and activated-diffusion brazing for crack repair, high-temperature coating, and heat-treating to support component fabrication, repair, and modification
  • Perform a wide variety of techniques dependent on processes to complete repairs on various components including turbine engine components utilizing various machining processes.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element):Machinist Supervisor Perform common technical and administrative duties of Machinist Supervisory. Set work schedules, establish priorities, and review employees work in progress or upon completion; Plan work sequences to have work completed by established deadlines; Perform common machining, using various techniques, materials, jigs, and fixtures common to the trade. Operates Electrical Discharge Machines and equipment; Ensures that subordinates are adequately informed of their responsibilities and are properly trained. I work under close supervision of a work leader/supervisor who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Lead or Supervise Ability to Use Hand Tools for Machine Shop Ability to Use Shop Drawings Knowledge of Metals Measurement and Layout Operation of Machine Tools Technical Practices (Theoretical, Precise, Artistic)
