Summary
This position is located in the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation, Division of Emergency Preparedness and Responses. The supervisor is Cindy Rosales-Cooper. This position is subject to Confidential Financial Disclosure reporting requirements. This position is subject to security ownership restriction reporting requirements.
Duties
- The successful candidate will perform the full range of Senior Emergency Preparedness (EP) Specialist duties. Such duties include but are not limited to: Responsible for leading, writing, reviewing, and managing the development of emergency preparedness program policies, rules, initiatives, requirements, guidance, and related activities. Leads efforts with domestic stakeholders and foreign counterparts associated with NRC EP policies, regulations, oversight and licensing, including complex and controversial issues. Leads others and conducts reviews and evaluations of nuclear power reactor emergency plans using regulations, guidance documents, Commission policies, management directives, and procedures.
Qualifications
In order to qualify for this position, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE is defined as expert level knowledge of the principles, theory, and practices of emergency preparedness and emergency plan development, as evidenced by broad work experience in these areas. Expert level knowledge and experience of preparedness requirements of operating or decommissioned commercial power reactors, new and advanced reactors, or other nuclear facilities. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the following: Demonstrated subject matter expertise and knowledge of NRC emergency preparedness regulations, guidance, and policies related to operating reactors, new reactors, and advanced reactors. Demonstrated ability to use interpersonal skills to interact effectively with peers, management, and representatives of industry, Federal counterparts, State and local governments, and international counterparts to develop and implement successful approaches to problem solving and conflict resolution. Demonstrated ability to communicate information, ideas, and advice in a clear, concise, and logical manner, both orally and in writing, to internal and external stakeholders of a Federal agency, corporation, or other large organization.
