Duties

• As a Public Health Analyst, you will: Analyze public health issues involving the funding, management, and viability of the nation's substance misuse and use disorder prevention strategies and capabilities. Make recommendations for alternative courses of action in program strategy used by senior management. Research, write, edit, and critique position papers on substance misuse prevention and related public health issues. Initiate and maintain interagency liaison to assure coordination of national programs. Develop relationships with SAMHSA components, Federal, State, and local officials, citizen groups, professional associations, and nonprofit/private organizations.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR Basic Qualifications: Experience that provided: Knowledge of organizational, operational, and programmatic concepts and practices applied by public, private, or nonprofit agencies and organizations engaged in public health or other health-related activities. Knowledge of the methods, processes, and techniques used to develop and deliver public health or health-related programs in State and local settings. Knowledge of a specialized public health program. Knowledge of, and skill in, the application of administrative or analytical methods and techniques necessary for working within the framework of a public health or related organization and carrying out specific program functions. Skill in oral and written communications, gathering and conveying information, making oral presentations, and preparing reports, correspondence, and other written materials. Minimum Qualifications: You must have one year specialized experience to perform successfully the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service performing ALL of the following: Conducting analyses of public health programs and operations to evaluate program effectiveness, while identifying emerging issues and trends Developing recommendations for public health programs, supporting strategic planning, policy development, and program implementation. Analyzing qualitative and quantitative data to prepare reports, dashboards, statistical graphs, and briefing materials that informed executive decision-making and program performance. Collaborating with Federal, State, local, and external stakeholders to gather expert input, coordinate cross-functional initiatives, and advance public health prevention priorities.
