If so, we are searching for someone like you to fill a position located in the Office of the Director (OD), Office of Human Resources, (OHR), Workforce Relations Division (WRD), Retirement and Employee Benefits Branch (REBB).

Duties

  • As a Human Resources Specialist (Employee Benefits) within the Retirement and Employee Benefit Branch (REBB) you will: Assist in administering benefits and retirement programs. Work with employees, annuitants, and family members of deceased employees on benefits and retirement program situations, such as when combining federal service that has been credited under various and dissimilar programs. Provide information necessary to help employees of the organization make irrevocable decisions and to garner the maximum gains from the available benefits. Interpret and prepare informative material for employees on new, changed, and pending policy, and outlines the impact on existing benefits program entitlements. Counsel or advise individual employees on sensitive or serious problems related to health or life insurance coverage.

Qualifications

In order to qualify for a Human Resources Specialist (Benefits), GS-201-9, you must: Demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: assisting in administering retirement and benefits program activities for an organization; responding to pay and benefits questions; and preparing retirement and benefits related actions; OR Have completed a Master's or equivalent graduate degree, or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or an LL.B. or J.D., if related OR Have a combination of post baccalaureate education and experience that meets 100% of the qualification requirements for this position. You will receive credit for all experience material to the position, including experience gained in religious, civic, welfare, service, and organizational activities, regardless of whether you received pay.
