Summary

Duties

  • You will demonstrate the ability to operate and apply specific maintenance and repair procedures on a regular and recurring basis to position.
  • You will install, maintain, and repair general industrial plant machinery equipment such as sandblasting, machinery pluralizer systems, wheeler zing systems, blast media recovery systems, degreasers, and other plant/blast/cleaning system equipment.
  • You will determine the nature and extent of repairs and be able to make the needed repairs.
  • You will perform and have knowledge of sandblasting and painting procedures associated with the presentation of various metals.
  • You will work in confined spaces, tanks, and/or voids.
  • You will clean the interior and exterior tanks and voids.

Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the job elements and screen out listed below. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION Ability to accomplish and instruct lower grade employees in the cleaning, preparation and painting of interior and exterior wood, metal, and plastic surfaces. Ability to determine the nature and extent of repairs necessary and make needed repairs by replacing, reworking, or refinishing worn or damaged parts and components. Ability to dismantle, move, and relocate various types of industrial plant machinery and equipment or install new machinery and equipment. Ability to apply various protective, decorative, and functional paints, coatings, and films using brushes, rollers, conventional and airless paint sprayers, dipping and other related methods and techniques. Ability to apply a variety of methods, procedures, and techniques to lay out, install, align, repair, overhaul, and maintain various types of nonproduction industrial plant machinery, equipment and systems. Ability to possess knowledge of equipment and tank cleaning work practices including those required to provide for neat, clean, safe, and orderly maintenance of work area.
