Summary
About the position: This position will be assigned to the - Little Rock AFB, AR -Child Development Center. This position is guaranteed a minimum of 20 hours but can be scheduled to a maximum of 20-34 hours per week. Physical Effort: Light to moderate physical effort in lifting up to 45 pounds or pushing carts. Constantly standing and walking.
Duties
- Boils, bakes, fries, and broils meats, fish, and poultry by watching the item cooking; turning as required, regulating temperature, and removing when done. Adjusts standardized recipes for large quantity cooking. Maintains proper temperature for all food during holding, transport, reheating, and serving to ensure food safety. Washes and cleans kitchen equipment. Assists in training guidelines on new policy and procedures. Responsible for meal preparation/serving of all meals and snacks in specified quantities to meet Air Force requirements related to Air Force Childcare Food Programs. Prepares an Air Force Form 287 for the Director's review and approval for purchasing food. Purchases supplies weekly. Assists in preparing USDA forms CCFP-6 and food counts. Submits reports to the CDC Director for review. Attends all training sessions and staff meetings as required. Responsible for general food sanitation of the kitchen. Maintains cleanliness throughout the kitchen/dining room areas during scheduled hours of duty. Follows posted menu. Informs Child Development Center Director of any necessary menu changes for recording. Provides food for other staff members for field trips and cooking experiences for the children in the center. Uses Air Force-approved seasonal cycle menus and rotates on the approved schedule. Provides nutritionally equivalent substitutions for children with food allergies/sensitivities. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifying Experience:Must have adequate experience in preparing and serving nutritional foods for young children. Must have basic knowledge of food preparation principles and practical understanding of physical changes that occur during the processing and cooking of food. Must have ability to follow instructions, work safely, and do simple arithmetic. Must be able to follow USDA requirements. Must be willing to go through training required by the service regulation. Knowledge of operating and cleaning food service equipment and the ability to season food and decide when foods are done is required. Must have practical knowledge of methods and procedures necessary for ordering, issuing, and storing food items in accordance with inventory and sanitation requirements. Must be 18 years of age, hold a high school diploma or equivalent, have the ability to speak, read and write English. Must be physically able to frequently lift objects weighing up to 40 pounds with assistance. Must be able to obtain Food Handler's card and satisfactorily complete all pre-employment and investigative requirements.
