Duties

• Performs required processing for preservation of complete items such as a variety of combat vehicles and/or artillery and their major assemblies for the purpose of preventing corrosion and deterioration of items while in storage or during shipment.
• Operates all common vehicles to include - Main Battle Tanks, Assault Breacher Vehicles and various vehicle platforms common to workflow.
• Performs minor mechanical repairs for the purpose of preservation, or when items are broken. Performs disassembly, assembly, and makes adjustments to equipment such as removing loose parts, cleaning parts, and repackaging parts.
• Checks and verifies safety items. Alerts Supervisor of any defects of vehicles noticed during Preservation Process.
• Maintain Operators License for All Common Tracked and Wheeled vehicles / Material Handling Equipment (MHE) up to 25000 lbs. / Bridge and Jib Boom Cranes

Qualifications

Applicants will be rated in accordance with the Office of Personnel Management Qualification Standard for Trades and Labor Occupations. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties at the level for which you are applying. Emphasis is placed on how you gained the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time, and the required ability or potential to perform the job. Applicants who do not meet the screen-out element (SOE) will be eliminated from further competition. Physical Effort: Work involves walking, stooping, bending, and climbing onto and off of and into and under vehicle. Incumbent must stand for prolonged periods of time on a concrete floor. There is frequent lifting of moderately heavy objects (25 to 50 lbs.), and occasionally heavier items. Works in confined areas inside of combat vehicles. Working Conditions: Work is performed in open area or under open sheds. Incumbent is exposed to all weather extremes while working in open areas. Is exposed to hazards of moving equipment, fumes from engines, dirt, and grease. Is subject to normal mishaps resulting in such minor injuries as lacerated fingers, scrapes, and cuts. Wears protective equipment such as safety shoes, gloves, apron, and respirator as necessary. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
