Summary
You will serve as a Materials Handler of NAVSUP FLT LOGISTICS CNTR PUGET SOUND.
Duties
- You will perform routine warehousing activities, including receiving, storing, and issuing and staging/kitting material (may handle hazardous and/or explosive materials.)
- You will receive and stow materials and supplies in designated storage areas, ensuring that materials are segregated by hazard types with Safety Data Sheets (SDS) attached as required.
- You will research and report damaged goods or shipment shortages.
- You will select, palletize, and issue/deliver hazardous materials.
- You will perform physical inventory counts and location audits to maintain inventory validity.
- You will update automated supply information systems, such as the Navy Enterprise Resource Planning system, to reflect receipts, stows, location changes, issues, and inventory counts, using keyboard data entry and/or handheld barcode equipment.
- You will load and unload material from trucks, railcars and other conveyances, and move material throughout warehouse and pier areas.
- You will independently operate Material Handling Equipment (MHE) rated up to 30,000 lb; when operating MHE, conduct daily safety checks for proper operation of safety features and document any deficiencies for corrective action.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: I have the ability to perform the full range of tasks working under limited supervision as demonstrated by receiving, handling, segregating, storing, stowing, inventorying, and documenting the movement and storage of supplies, equipment, or materials including Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT), in accordance with prescribed regulations; performing inspections of incoming shipments to check for damage and compliance with technical requirements; documenting discrepancies, damage, and technical non-compliance; reading and preparing shipping documents and labels; using computer applications and automated equipment such as bar code wands, laser scanners, or computer terminals to document the movement of material; determining proper handling and storage procedures; utilizing available storage space for means of achieving maximum space utilization, material flow, and proper layout; operating motor vehicles and material handling equipment as demonstrated through experience. I work on my own initiative under general supervision subject to occasional inspection.
