Summary

Position located at Joshua Tree National Park in the Maintenance Division in Twentynine Palms, CA. Operates gasoline/diesel-powered engineering/construction heavy equipment on flat or rolling terrain, refuse dumps, and/or construction sites with simple terrain problems. Equipment typically includes tractors with bulldozer or angledozer blades, backhoes, front-end loaders, excavators, wheel loaders, trench diggers, skid steers, and large industrial tractors with pan or scraper attachments.

Duties

  • Some of the major duties you will perform include but are not limited to the following: Operates motor grader to ditch, plow, clear debris, flat road grading, maintaining road shoulders, and ditching where grading to stake is not required. Operates front end loaders in the process of moving dirt and materials, plowing snow and filling trucks. Uses a grader, loader, and dump truck to remove snow from roads and parking lots during winter months. Uses equipment to perform roadside brushing and clearing of debris. Loads, secures and hauls equipment to and from project sites using truck and trailer.

Requirements

Must provide proof of U.S. citizenship. Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication. Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service. Must possess and maintain a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Class A with Tanker endorsement. You must also submit (within a State sealed envelope or submitted directly by the State authorities), and at your own expense, all certified driving records from all States that disclose all valid driver's licenses, whether current or past, possessed by you. Must be able to lift 75 pounds. You are required to wear a uniform and comply with the uniform standards. A uniform allowance will be provided. You are required to complete training, obtain and maintain a government credit card with travel and purchase authority. You must be at least (1)18 years old or (2) at least 16 years old and: (a) Have graduated from high school or been awarded a certificate equivalent to graduating from high school; or (b) Have completed a formal vocational training program; or (c) Have received a statement from school authorities agreeing with their preference for employment rather than continuing their education; or (d) Be currently enrolled in a secondary school and either work only during school vacation periods or work part-time during the school year under a formal student employment program. *Additional Requirements located under Qualifications*
