The primary purpose of this position is: To serve as the information technology system developer with responsibility for assisting in the design, planning, and coordinating the installation, testing, modifying, upgrading, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of hardware and software systems architecture.

Duties

  • DUTY 1: Performs services as a Net. Carries out responsibilities encompassing both Windows and Linux server configuration, VMware management, file system configuration, systems development, integration, advanced file systems administration, cybersecurity implementation, storage area networks management, database administration, and hardware architecture design. DUTY 2: Cyber systems security liaison. Create IT Cybersecurity system designs that meet precise operational needs and environmental factors. DUTY 3: IT systems administration consultant. Participate as a member of the configuration control board in the formulation of the architecture for the 17th Training Wing Cyber Training environment. DUTY 4: Network Storage and Backup Specialist. As an advisor for Network Storage operations for the 17 TRG training networks, the employee oversees a range of critical functions, including configuring Windows and Linux servers, managing VMware, developing and integrating systems, administering advanced file systems, implementing cybersecurity measures, and designing hardware architecture.

Qualifications

This is a GG-09 position in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). The GG-09 duties for the "Professional" work category are at the "Entry/Developmental" work level and are equivalent to those at the GS-09 level. The selectee's salary will be set within the grade equivalent to a GS/GG grade based on the selectee's qualifications in relation to the job. In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT: Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate GS-5 through GS-15 (or equivalent): For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. The employing agency is responsible for identifying the specific level of proficiency required for each competency at each grade level based on the requirements of the position being filled. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Your resume must reflect the quality level of experience which demonstrates the possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for successful job performance required for this position. Examples of creditable experience include: knowledge of an extensive body of IT rules, procedures, or operations requiring extended training and experience in order to perform a wide variety of interrelated or non-standard procedural assignments and resolve a wide range of problems. Practical knowledge of IT principles, methods, and systems is required, including the application of established procedures for both hardware and software. The employee assists in administering Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) and enterprise data storage environments to support reliable and secure operations. Following established configuration management practices, the incumbent installs and maintains systems and assists in troubleshooting and recovering from common hardware or software failures. A working knowledge of cybersecurity principles is necessary to support system authorization, risk assessment, and the secure configuration of ports and protocols. Note: Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private Sector, or experience gained in another government agency. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of cybersecurity policies and procedures. Knowledge of cybersecurity vulnerabilities. 2. Knowledge of server administration principles and practices. Knowledge of command-line tools and techniques. 3.Knowledge of hardening tools and techniques. Knowledge of operating system structures and intervals. 4. Skill in troubleshooting system performance. 5. Skill in implementing network infrastructure contingency and recovery plans. 6.Skill in optimizing system performance. Skill in configuring computer protection components. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT CONT'D: 1. Position is designated special-sensitive and requires eligibility for access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI), other intelligence-related Special Sensitive information, or involvement in Top Secret Special Access Programs (SAP) to fully perform the duties and responsibilities of the position. A non-disclosure agreement must be signed. 2. Drug Testing: This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Testing Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing. Illegal drug use by employees in sensitive positions presents a clear threat to the mission of the Air Force, national security, and public safety. 3. Information Assurance Certification is a condition of employment. This position includes information assurance (IA) work as a paramount duty requirement. Per DoD 8570.01-M, the incumbent of this position must achieve the appropriate IA certification within six (6) months of assignment of these duties. A waiver of this six (6) month requirement may be granted per DoD 8570.01-M, C3.2.2 or C3.2.4.3. Failure to receive the proper IA certification may result in removal from the position. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
