Air Reserve Technicians are full-time civilian employees who are also members of the Air Force Reserve unit in which they are employed. In addition to their civilian assignments, they are assigned to equivalent positions in the Reserve organization with a Reserve military rank or grade. Appointee's civilian assignments will consist of the following duties.

Duties

• The primary purpose of this position is: as an Air Reserve Technician (ART) officer is directly responsible to the Unit Commander to manage the inspection preparation program for the wing/group. Serves as the unit point of contact for the coordination and execution of the Unit's Readiness and Compliance Training Plans. Responsible for integrating supporting exercise/events and readiness/compliance philosophies and initiatives into unit activities. The organizational location of this position is: wing/group staff agency. This position may be required to perform supervisory duties less than 25% of the time. DUTIES: Manages the Unit's Major Event Cycle (MEC). Ensures the unit has a long range planning strategy to assemble resources for significant operational, readiness and compliance events. Leads unit preparations for Readiness and Compliance Inspections. Develops, plans and controls exercise scenarios to accurately assess wing readiness. Leads/manages unit Exercise Evaluation Team (EET) efforts, supporting internal and external taskings. Serves as unit EET Chief. Attends meetings, conferences, briefings, and seminars related to program planning, advanced technologies and support system concepts. Regularly performs appropriate aircrew member duties in unit aircraft. Performs duties as an additional duty instructor/flight examiner as deemed appropriate.

Qualifications

THIS IS AN AIR RESERVE TECHNICIAN OFFICER POSITION. This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) Officer position located at 920 RESCUE WG with the military rank of Major O-4, AFSC: 6F051. In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Supplement to Qualification Standards for Air Reserve Technicians (ART), approved August 2017. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: No specific length of experience required. The qualifications of Navigator (Instructors) in an Air Force active duty and Reserve force are directly related to the completion of prerequisite training and number of flying hours rather than years of experience. MINIMUM FLYING HOURS: Must have a minimum of 1000 hours total military flight time and instructor qualified in unit aircraft, hold or qualify for a USAF Navigator or Combat Systems Officer rating. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENTS FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in--grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-11 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-12 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of exercise planning, inspection criteria, deployment and employment processes. 2. Knowledge of the mission, organization, programs, and functions of the unit and a thorough understanding of their relationship to Air Force systems. 3. Skill and ability in oral and written communications to prepare and deliver briefings, lead discussions, motivate personnel, conduct workshops and seminars and prepare project and staff reports. 4. Knowledge of analytical and evaluative methods and techniques to analyze, review, and assess unit readiness. 5. Skill in identifying and analyzing compliance issues and developing recommendations to resolve substantive issues. 6. Knowledge of interrelationship of data gathered from units with different missions in developing measurements to improve organizational effectiveness. Other significant facts pertaining to this position are: Performs other related duties as assigned. 1. This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) Officer position. The incumbent is required to meet and maintain Air Force Reserve requirements. The incumbent's regular assignments are ART duties; however, the incumbent may be assigned some non-ART duties, generally not to exceed 30 percent of total responsibilities. Work schedule will be aligned to allow incumbent to fully participate in unit training assemblies (UTA). 2. Must be a mission-ready, rated aircrew member on flying status, and instructor qualified, in the assigned unit. Periodically, as prescribed by regulations, must take and pass standardization/evaluation/certification examinations which consist of both written tests and actual flight performance to demonstrate flight knowledge and abilities required of the position. 3. This is an AFRC key management position in which the incumbent is required to formulate, determine or influence policies of the assigned units. 4. Aircrew and management duties include stress (both mental and physical), exposures to extreme hot and cold temperatures, gravity forces of three in non-fighters and nine + in fighters. 5. As necessary, to meet special or essential unscheduled activities, may be required to work an uncommon tour of duty with brief advance notice. 6. The incumbent may be required to fly in military and/or commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty assignments (TOY). 7. This position is designated as a mobility position. The incumbent must be willing to move/transfer to another unit /location on a lateral or promotion basis as directed by HQ AFRC. 8. Position requires the incumbent to obtain and retain a Top Secret clearance level designated for the position. 9. This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position. 10. This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
