Summary

The primary purpose of this position is to schedule, initiate, and control work orders, establish priorities, and coordinate requirements within the Vehicle Management Flight. This role analyzes and maintains all related vehicle maintenance records to provide safe and serviceable vehicles in a cost-effective manner.

Duties

  • dministers all automated vehicle maintenance production programs and systems, including planning for vehicle inspections, services, and scheduled maintenance. Manages work orders, assigns priorities, schedules work, and controls the movement of vehicles and equipment. Maintains communication with using organizations, providing current vehicle status and updating the maintenance control "status board". Analyzes monthly management information system data to ensure optimum support and economy of the vehicle fleet. Compiles and analyzes information on vehicular management, performance data, and maintenance processes to identify trends and support conclusions for reports and briefings. Assists the fleet manager in accounting for all USAF, tenant unit, and General Service Administration (GSA) vehicles on the installation.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-04 or NJ-01, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes produces desired results, in the needed timeframe, with the appropriate level of supervision through the use of appropriate knowledge, skills, abilities and understanding of the technical requirements of the job. Achieves, demonstrates and maintains the appropriate qualifications necessary to assume and execute key acquisition and/or support requirements. Demonstrates skilled critical thinking in identifying, analyzing and solving complex issues, as appropriate. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-04 or NJ-01 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-05 or NJ-02 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of governing vehicle maintenance/management regulations, policies, procedures, techniques, and methods. 2. Knowledge of production control functions, operations, program requirements, and work methods. 3. Skill in data entry and processing of transactions in the Fleet Management Information System (FMIS). 4. Skill in maintaining official files, records, and listings. 5. Ability to apply basic analytical methods to determine trends and make recommendations to correct unfavorable developments. 6. Ability to apply an extensive body of fleet management regulations, policies, procedures, techniques and methods. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
