Summary
About the Position: Hours of operation include working hours between 0700 to 1715, Monday through Friday. The position is located in a Defense Health Agency (DHA) outpatient pharmacy within a Military Treatment Facility. The pharmacy provides pharmaceutical services to eligible beneficiaries in a patient-centered healthcare environment that requires accuracy, efficiency, teamwork, and a strong commitment to medication safety and customer service. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation
Duties
- Performs professional pharmacist functions in support of outpatient pharmacy operations.
- Reviews and verifies prescriptions for accuracy, clinical appropriateness, proper dosage, allergies, drug interactions, contraindications, therapeutic duplication, and other potential medication-related concerns.
- Ensures medications are accurately prepared and dispensed and provides patient counseling regarding appropriate medication use.
- Identifies and resolves prescription and medication-related problems, including communicating with prescribers when clarification or intervention is required.
- Provides drug information to patients and healthcare professionals.
- Utilizes pharmacy information systems, automated dispensing systems, and pharmacy automation technology to support safe and efficient medication distribution.
- Provides professional guidance and oversight to pharmacy technicians in the performance of medication preparation and dispensing activities.
- Ensures pharmacy activities are conducted in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, DHA policies, controlled-substance requirements, and established professional standards.
Qualifications

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Basic Requirement for Pharmacist: Education: 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree, Ph.D., Pharm.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in Pharmacy that is recognized by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. Exemption: You are exempt from the basic requirement above if you are a current federal employee occupying a position in the 0660 occupational series and have been continuously employed in this occupational series since September 27, 2017 or before. Note: You will be required to provide appropriate documentation to the respective Human Resources Office to validate your status. Licensure: A current, active, valid, and unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in a State, a territory of the United States, or the District of Columbia. Medical Requirement: Must be able to distinguish basic colors.
Education
