Summary

This position is part of the Defense Human Resources Activity. The incumbent will serve as a HR Specialist (Classification) on the Department-level Classification Appellate team and as a senior advisor providing advanced classification-level technical expertise and objective advice on complex classification issues to other senior HR subject-matter experts, senior executives, and staff in all DoD Components.

Duties

  • As a Human Resources Specialist (Classification) at the GS-0201-14 some of your typical work assignments may include: Planning, organizing, and executing special DoD-level projects and studies on emerging classification issues and proposals. Preparing detailed briefings and proposal packages for consideration by high-level DoD management and/or OPM. Developing/revising classification training materials and delivering basic and advanced classification training to HR and supervisory/management staff throughout the DoD Components. Serving as the classification representative on DoD-level working groups developing new systems, processes, or legislation. Adjudicating DoD-level classification appeals.

Qualifications

You may qualify at the GS-14, if you fulfill the following qualifications: A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service: Applying advanced Federal position classification principles, concepts, and practices. Conducting/participating in complex agency-level classification-related projects and studies. Developing and delivering advanced classification training. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
