Duties
- INTRODUCTION: The purpose of this position is to oversee operations for multiple Warrior Athlete Readiness and Resilience (WARR)/Fitness Centers, Outdoor Training areas, along with facility staff aboard MCAGCC with support to MCMWTC. Position reports to the Human Performance Branch Head. MAJOR DUTIES: Majority of the time is spent in oversight of WARR/Fitness Center operations to ensure facility standards and procedures are maintained. Incumbent is indirectly responsible for of the supervision of Marines and civilian staff members and directly supervises all Fitness Center managers. Ensures employees managers and all other staff adhere to policies and regulations of the MCCS fitness centers. Responsible for hiring, training, scheduling, assigning and distributing work, coaching, counseling, tutoring, and mentoring employees; approves and disapproves leave, recommends and completes personnel actions, disciplinary actions, performance reviews, and submits and approves time. Develops staff by delegating duties and projects, mentoring and providing educational opportunities. Works to resolve conflicts with patrons, staff, facilities and supporting entities as they arise. Reports significant issues and problems related to work accomplishment to the higher-level supervisor. Performs visits and inspections of all facilities to maintain quality service for all patrons served annually. Responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of all facilities and equipment. Works with Logistics , the Facilities Maintenance Branch(FMB) and the Public Works Division (PWD) to support managers in the maintenance of buildings. Through subordinates, ensures preventative maintenance, repairs, and fitness equipment inventory is completed in a timely manner. Oversees electronic system for fitness repairs and ensures all staff maintains system for their facilities. Routes work orders to appropriate entities as needed. Uses data from system to make decisions on equipment replacement. Coordinates all equipment deliveries with the vendors, MCCS receiving and Fitness Facility Managers. Through subordinates, manages inventory of parts and extra equipment to be utilized when needed at facilities, conducts inventories of resources and ensures adequate storage and maintenance and is responsible for reporting tools such as CMR and safety reports.. Assists all Human Performance Staff in the implementation of programming to include direction of staff. Works with Human Performance Branch Head to execute projects in conjunction with staff members. Ensures staff support of Fitness Programs, Human Performance and other WARR-Semper Fit activities and events to achieve MCCS Mission. Assures fitness facility efforts are aligned with all Warrior Athlete Readiness and Resilience (WARR) programming and Marine Corps Total Fitness (MCTF) strategies and objectives. Continually evaluates needs and analyzes data to maximize efficiencies and determine facility and program requirements. Ensures all facilities open 24/7 follow published guidelines, maintain efficient operations with minimal downtime and that patrons who violate policy are promptly reported to local command contacts. Creates standard operating procedures for fitness center operation. Collects data as required and reports data to department head, command and/or WARR-Semper Fit Headquarters. Continually evaluates the effectiveness of ongoing activities, resources, and objectives, and adapts and alters activities based on findings. Performs and oversees a variety of administrative tasks to include but not limited to establishing and updating operating procedures, preparing management narratives, after action reports etc. Coordinates with marketing staff to plan and develop promotions and advertising, commercial sponsorship, and publicity strategies. Coordinates and implements joint programs with other Semper Fit and MCCS activities Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Checks for satisfaction on the quality of goods and services. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher-level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Four years of experience that demonstrates a working knowledge of fitness facilities, personnel management and health and wellness programs. Relevant education may be used as a substitute for experience. Certification in coaching or as a personal trainer is preferred. CPR, AED and First Aid must be obtained within first 3 months and kept current throughout employment. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office: excel, word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and navigating the web. Competency in public speaking, professional writing, computer literacy, and desktop publishing skills are preferred. Physical dexterity, ability to stand for long periods of time, regularly lift and carry objects up to 45lbs independently, and carry objects over 45lbs with assistance may be required. Must have excellent oral and written communications skills. Must have excellent customer service skills, and the ability to successful, plan, organize and supervise. Incumbent must have the ability to maintain effective working relationships with all levels of employees, both inside and outside the organization. Must possess a valid state driver's license.
