Summary

This is a National Guard Title 5 Excepted Service position This National Guard position is for a Social Worker, Position Description Number T5012000 and is part of the NJ MEDICAL COMMAND, New Jersey Army National Guard.

Duties

  • As a SOCIAL WORKER, GS-0185-12, you will: Develop coordinated plans for reducing risk factors for individuals. Conduct population-based behavioral health surveillance to examine trends and further develop targeted prevention and mitigation strategies. Prepare written evaluation reports with clinical impressions and recommendations. Conduct needs assessments, intake evaluations, and psycho-diagnostic assessments. Ensure that program metrics comply with applicable DOD policies, Army Regulations, National Guard guidance, policy letters, and other official guidance. Accomplish intake interviews to include family history, bio-psychosocial history, developmental and health histories. Coordinates and implements prevention and education programs. Provide consultation, education, and training to military and non-military health care professionals concerning behavioral health policy, psychological fitness, and primary and secondary prevention programs. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

General Experience: Must have knowledge of social work theories, principles, techniques, and resources. Specialized Experience: Must have 24 months of experience in in the following: Clinical social work assignments Providing assistance and services Helping people work-out plans for improving the situation. Interviewing people to establish the nature and extent of their problems. Referring people to community resources and other organizations as indicated Assisting people to understand and modify their own patterns of behavior when appropriate.

Employment ends unless certified in writing that it advances the agencies interest. Areas of Consideration: United States Citizens Must possess an active Secret Security Clearance or are willing to obtain one within 12 months of appointment if selected for this position. Professional Social Work Licensure Requirements- Must have professional unrestricted state licensure. (Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)) Restrictions - No record of conviction by special or general courts-martial or civilian courts of offenses. For use by AMEDD officers in MFA 73, no record of conviction by special or general courts-martial or civilian courts of offenses listed in AR 27-10 (Military Justice), Chapter 24, or otherwise required to register as a sexual offender under AR 27-10, Chapter 24. The individual in this position will be required to be on call on a rotational bases.

Education

Education Requirements Master's degree in Social Work from a graduate school of social work accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) and acceptable to The Surgeon General.
