The primary purpose of this position is to plan, implement, administer, and counsel on Military and Family Readiness Center's (M&FRC) career, transition, relocation, family, and other work/life services and activities provided to military members, retirees, Department of War (DoW) civilian members, and their families.
Duties
- 1. Develops and uses self/community assessments, and various measurement tools to identify trends, organizational needs, and service and unit demographic profiles. Evaluates and interprets data to identify and clarify issues and concerns; determines appropriate course of action to positively affect work/life relationships, mission readiness, recruitment and retention. 2. Develops, implements, and manages installation work/life services programs, establishing goals, objectives, procedures and plans in accordance with applicable state and DoD, Department of the Air Force (DAF) and other federal guidance, regulations, and laws. 3. Identifies, advises, and consults with key leaders on positive sustainable efforts that foster an environment of trust and responsiveness to various organizational work/life issues. 4. Designs and establishes marketing and public relations strategies to ensure target populations are informed of services and activities. Researches, writes articles, and prepares and delivers presentations on services and activities.
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Professional and Scientific Positions, Series 0101 BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT: Degree: Behavioral or Social Science or related disciplines appropriate to the position. OR Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrate that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. OR Combination of education and experience that provides the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower broadband NH-01, equivalent to the next to lower grade GS-04 or equivalent in the Federal Service. Specialized experience must include Knowledge of social services delivery systems as well as concepts, principles, theories, and practices relating to one or more of the social or behavioral science fields; Skill in conducting interviews to establish the nature and extent of concerns/issues, provide assistance in developing goals and plans, and determine appropriate referral services/options when frequently there is difficulty in determining clients' needs or wants or in convincing then to accept that problems exist. Note: Resume must show supporting details. OR EDUCATION: Successfully completed at least one full academic year of graduate level education or superior academic achievement in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position; or have a bachelor's degree in social science or a subject area related to the position and am claiming Superior Academic Achievement. NOTE: You must submit copies of your transcripts. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of specialized experience and education as described above. This education was received from an accredited University, College, etc. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts with your application. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of social services delivery systems as well as a wide range of concepts, principles, theories, and practices relating to one or more of the social or behavioral science fields. 2. Skill in conducting interviews to establish the nature and extent of concerns/issues, provide assistance in developing goals and plans, and determine appropriate referral services/options when frequently there is difficulty in determining clients' needs or wants or in convincing them to accept that problems exist. 3. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships using tact and diplomacy in interactions with individuals/families, leadership of organizations, and with program representatives and officials. 4. Ability to assess and measure organizations' trends, concerns, and needs; assist in identifying and prioritizing goals; and provide guidance and direction for the development and implementation of effective plans and tools to address such issues. 5. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
