Summary

About the Position: This is an open continuous announcement, the first cutoff should be after 10 days of opening date, subsequent cut-offs will be every 15 days. Applicants whose application packages are received by the initial cut-off date will be considered first, applicants whose application packages are received after the initial cut-off date and prior to the closing date will only be considered if the supply of candidates is exhausted and/or there are additional vacancies to fill.

Duties

  • Cut, trim, and/or shape hair into various haircuts and/or hairstyles.
  • Use tools to perform barber services.
  • Clean and sanitize tools.
  • Maintain working area.

Qualifications

However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Barber~ without more than normal supervision. having the ability to perform common Barber duties such as trimming and cutting a variety of hair types and styles - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision Screen Out Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. Dexterity and Safety Knowledge of Materials Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Use of Measuring Instruments PHYSICAL EFFORT: The work requires continuous use of both arms and hands and frequent standing, reaching, and light lifting. Dexterity is required to lock the barbering swivel chair, adjust the chair height to the appropriate cutting level, and regulate the swivel movements of the chair throughout the barbering processes. Objects handled such as barbering instruments, tools and appliances seldom weigh more than five (5) pounds. WORKING CONDITIONS: The work is performed inside the Barbershop, which is properly heated, lighted, and ventilated. Duties expose incumbent to the possibility of electric shock. Exposed to hair clippings, and communicable diseases of the patrons. Required to wear a smock, wash hands thoroughly and frequently with soap and water, sanitize barbering tools, and maintain working area in accordance with established procedures.
