Summary

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This is a Military Technician position with the 81st Readiness Division, Equipment Concentration Site (ECS) 124, Storage Branch located at Fort Jackson, South Carolina.

Duties

• Operate diesel-powered equipment across public highways in support of logistical operations.
• Maneuver forklifts (2,000–50,000 lb capacity) and mobile wheeled or tracked cranes (up to 25-ton capacity) to safely lift, load, warehouse, and stage equipment and supplies for transport.
• Transport heavy engineer equipment that may be oversized and/or overweight to designated locations in compliance with safety regulations.
• Conduct preventative maintenance checks and services to identify vehicle deficiencies.
• Ensure load weights are properly distributed, tied down/secured to comply with all safety requirements.
• Load, secure and unload vehicles and equipment for shipment.
• Assist with receiving and recording incoming warehouse shipments to ensure inventory accuracy and quality control.
• Help with generating essential warehousing documents, including reports and logs, to ensure compliance with inventory control standards.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Motor Vehicle Operator ~ without more than normal supervision. To meet the screen out element, applicants should document experience or show the ability to do the following: Operating, maneuvering, and conducting operator-level maintenance on commercial, tactical, combat, material handling and/or engineering equipment, Performing preventative maintenance checks on vehicles and equipment including inspecting fluid levels, checking tire pressure and supporting day-to-day warehousing tasks and Receiving, inspecting, storing, assist in issuing and/or loading equipment. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Physical Effort: Performs work on hard surfaces and in work areas that require the worker to stand, stoop, bend, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Work at a rapid pace for long periods of time. Moderate physical effort is used in operating hand and foot controls when driving, turning, stopping and starting the forklifts and motor vehicles and in raising, lowering and tilting the forklift loads. Frequently lifts and carries supplies, material and equipment weighing up to 40 pounds. Working Conditions: Subject to working out-of-doors during periods of inclement weather. Is exposed to serious injuries while operating vehicles over public roads and on the installation. Works on concrete floors and in drafty areas. May be exposed to fumes, fluids, dirt, battery acids, etc., resulting in bruises, cuts, burns, and skin irritation Wearing of hearing protection and other safety equipment is required during all periods of exposure to hazardous conditions.
