Summary

Duties

  • As a Management and Program Analyst (Wildland Fire), your duties will include but are not limited to the following: Applies analytical and evaluative methods to well precedented projects and assignments involving procedural or factual issues and readily observable conditions in support of wildland fire business and mission-support activities. Performs assigned segments of management studies and analytical projects addressing program effectiveness, efficiency, compliance, and service delivery within wildland fire mission-support functions. Compiles, updates, and maintains recurring reporting products used to monitor program activity, workload, cost trends, and other indicators using established formats and definitions. Maintains working relationships with internal staff and partners to support information exchange; refers unresolved issues to higher-level staff as appropriate. Participates on project teams and working groups by compiling inputs, documenting agreed-upon actions, and preparing draft summaries that translate data and findings into clear information for management review. Probation/Trial Period As a condition of employment for accepting this position, you may be required to serve a 1-year probationary period during which your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest will be evaluated. The probationary period is an extension of the appointment process and therefore requires the agency to determine if continued employment would advance the public interest, meet the organization goals and mission of the agency, and/or otherwise promote the efficiency of the service. In determining if your employment advances the public interest, the agency will consider: - your performance and conduct; - the needs and interests of the agency; - whether your continued employment would advance organizational goals of the agency or the Government; and - whether your continued employment would advance the efficiency of the Federal service. Qualifications

In order to be rated as qualified for this position, we must be able to determine that you meet the qualification requirements; please be sure to include this information in your resume. No assumptions will be made about your experience. To qualify for the GS-07, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05. Examples of work experience include but are not limited to performing administrative support duties such as gathering and reviewing statistical and program data; working with higher graded analysts to ensure information gathered is complete and accurate; assist in reviewing productivity improvement; and using automated systems and databases to accomplish work activities. To qualify for the GS-09, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07. Examples of work experience include but are not limited to performing administrative support duties such as gathering and reviewing statistical and program data; providing guidance on administrative policies and procedures; and using automated systems and databases to accomplish work activities, manipulate data and produce reports. Substitution of Education for the Specialized Experience Requirement: For GS-07: one full year of progressively higher-level graduate education, if related, or Superior Academic Achievement. Superior Academic Achievement (See OPM's General Policies, Application of Qualification Standards Section 4.f.) S.A.A. must have been gained in a curriculum that is qualifying for the position to be filled. For GS-09: master's or equivalent graduate degree OR 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree OR LL.B. or J.D., if related. - OR - Combination of Education and Experience: You may meet the qualifications requirement for this position with an equivalent combination of specialized experience and appropriate graduate education. Graduate level education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must meet all qualification requirements by the closing date of the announcement. Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade requirement in accordance with 5 CFR 300.604. If you are a current Federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must have completed a minimum of 52 weeks at the next lower grade level. Physical Demands: Work is primarily sedentary and performed in an office or virtual environment. Work Environment: Work is normally performed in an office or virtual environment with standard workplace conditions. Occasional travel may involve varying weather and operational conditions consistent with safety requirements.

Requirements

Education

To qualify based on education, you must submit a legible copy of transcripts from an accredited institution with your name, school name, credit hours, course level, major(s), and grade-point average or class ranking. Transcripts do not need to be official, but if you are selected for this position and you used your education to qualify, you must provide official transcripts before you begin work. If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet qualification requirements, you must show that your education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
