Qualifications

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. Who May Apply: US Citizens Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Aircraft Engine Mechanic ~ without more than normal supervision. To meet the screen out element, applicants should document experience or show the ability to do the following: maintaining and repairing rotary wing aircraft engines to include portions of electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic systems, and a variety of less complex maintenance functions. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Physical Effort: Moderately heavy physical effort is required in the frequent use of tiring work positions. Frequently lifts objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Occasionally lifts objects up to 75 pounds, with assistance through the use of mechanical devices. Frequent stooping, bending, and reaching, with prolonged periods of standing. May require climbing steps and ladders and standing or inclined surfaces. Working Conditions: Works inside on concrete floors which are sometimes damp and drafty. During outside on-site evaluation or repairs, is exposed to strong winds, wide temperature variations, and inclement weather. Subject to cuts, abrasions, falls, burns, and broken bones. The inherent danger of unstable working positions and rotor blades is always present. Noise hazards require audiometric evaluation.
