SUPERVISORY PHYSICAL SCIENCE TECHNICIAN

Summary

You will serve as a SUPERVISORY PHYSICAL SCIENCE TECHNICIAN in the Radiological Monitoring Division (Code 105.3), of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Duties

• You will hold subordinates accountable for delivering high-quality results, setting clear expectations and standards.
• You will establish schedules and sets performance expectations to maintain continuity of operations and prevent delays that support mission and operational requirements.
• You will assign tasks based on complexity, urgency, and employee capability, and seeks opportunities to improve productivity and work quality through process analysis and innovation.
• You will maintain proficiency in applicable measurement techniques, instrumentation, controlled-area practices, and documentation systems and performs other duties consistent with the occupation and grade as assigned
• You will support investigations and fact finding by reconstructing technical events from logs, measurements, interviews, work documents, and equipment status and provides technically sound findings within the limits of technician responsibility.
• You will assist in developing or revising local operating procedures, checklists, job aids, training scenarios, sampling or survey methods, and workflow practices when existing guidance requires clarification.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: *Experience coordinating radiological control work with production shops, project organizations, engineering and technical codes, quality assurance, nuclear and nonnuclear work controls, emergency management, environmental and safety organizations, contractors, and other shipyard activities. *Experience performing and evaluating complex radiological surveys, measurements, sampling, modernization, testing, refueling, defueling, decontamination, component handling, material movement, and related industrial operations. *Experience reviewing work packages, survey data, radiological work permits or equivalent control documents, technical procedures, facility conditions, and historical data to determine appropriate technical approaches within established program requirements. *Experience planning and organizing the work of subordinate personnel to ensure timely and efficient completion of both priority and routine assignments, and models self-accountability in all tasks. *Experience resolving employee concerns and grievances when appropriate and elevates complex or unresolved issues to higher-level management.
