Summary
Perform functions associated with monitoring and auditing, which is an integral part of an effective compliance program for BOSS. Functions include completing annual mandatory audits and monitors, collaborating with other facility and VISN compliance personnel. ***This is a virtual position and requires you to live within commuting distance of and report for duty at your nearest VHA location***
Duties
- Major duties include but are not limited to: Coordinates ongoing data collection and performs analysis to determine optimal organizational performance. Uses available data to determine current performance and develops and implements local performance measures as needed to assess current status and determine areas targeted for improved effectiveness and efficiencies of BOSS practices. Develops initiatives which will enable the facility to provide quality health care to its population while operating in a more effective and efficient manner. Performs a continuing evaluation and analysis to assess program effectiveness and to identify areas requiring management attention. Implements a variety of monitoring/reporting tools for each unit within the service to such as enrollment and eligibility, scheduling, encounter management, action required, and trains employees how to utilize them. Independently plans and conducts a variety of assignments or investigations such as develop or modify methods and techniques to resolve a variety of auditing problems. Develops methods to isolate and identify conditions affecting inefficiency. Assesses the potential to reduce cost in a variety of programs, projects, and function; develops new audit approaches where no precedent exists. Serves as the technical expert in a wide variety of auditing program management functions. Make clear, concise, and effective oral and written reports, and skilled at applying the principles, theories, techniques, and practices of professional auditing to problems encountered. Plan, organize, direct, and control areas with emphasis on data validation, analysis and generation of reports associated with the BOSS Unit, facility Health Administration Service/Business Office, Clinic Contact Center (CCC), Clinic Resource Hub Provide support and education on documentation issues and assists in the development of guidelines for data compatibility, consistency, and monitoring for compliance to improve the quality of clinical, financial, and administrative data to assure that every part of the information is completely documented and supported. Draft findings, conclusions, and recommendations ensuring that the work performed adequately supports conclusions reached and recommendations are consistent with audit objectives and reporting standards to provide a basis for actions to correct weaknesses and implement improvements. Determines requirements and establishes priorities, provides guidance concerning formulation, planning, and execution of the auditing function. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday. Tour of duty hours can vary between time zones and will be discussed with the supervisor. Telework: This position is eligible for ad hoc telework at the supervisor's discretion. Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 09/23/2026. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-09 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-07. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-07 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Completing annual mandatory audits and monitors, collaborating with other facility and VISN compliance personnel, prepare reports and presentations on monitoring and auditing results, outstanding customer service and the maintenance of an environment committed to serving the veteran, demonstrate professional auditing knowledge, and accepts and supports the mission, vision, and guiding principles of the medical center. OR, Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have master's or equivalent graduate degree. OR, Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and education beyond 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, or LL.B. or J.D., if related. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities.
