Summary

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This position is with the U.S. Army Garrison-Hawaii, Directorate of Emergency Services. Hawaii is a beautiful state, but has a high cost of living. Hawaii has many outdoor activities all year round including surfing, paddling, diving, fishing, and hiking.

Duties

  • You will make daily assignments to ensure that guard coverage is provided to assigned patrol areas.
  • You will check on work in progress to ensure supervisor's instructions on work sequence procedures are met.
  • You will report to supervisor on performance, progress, and training needs of employees, disciplinary problems, and makes informal suggestions on employee personnel actions.
  • You will grant access to persons, denies entry or arranges for escorts, as appropriate.
  • You will inspect containers, personal property, documents on private, commercial and governmental vehicles, exercises tact, courtesy, and firmness in the performance of all force protection duties
  • You will be responsible for performing and resolving a full range of both standard procedural and non-recurring/unusual visitor access assignments.
  • You will provide authoritative guidance and information on security regulations and procedures, exercising sound judgment and discretion in response to telephone and in-person security inquiries.

Qualifications

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service which includes experience with federal, state, municipal, local or private protective organizations interpreting and applying access control standard operating procedures, written orders, laws and regulations to determine whether appropriate authorization for access exists; safeguarding personnel, information, and critical assets; using physical access control equipment; responding to traffic incidents, emergency situations and security threats; and providing information and recommendations regarding operational effectiveness to higher-level management.
