Duties
- A GS-0080-9, PHYSICAL SECURITY SPECIALIST: Responsible for the management and administration of the Intrusion Detection System (IDS) program. Advises the MAJCOM SF IDS program manager of any base or site activities that will impact the Integrated Base Defense Security Systems (IBDSS) program, including, but is not limited to, mission changes resulting in increase or decrease of resources, reconfiguration of resource areas, and construction of facilities on or in the vicinity of current and planned sensor locations. Reports and documents all IDS maintenance requirements to the servicing maintenance organization. Monitors IDS false and nuisance alarms and, when necessary, requests assistance from the maintenance organization to resolve problems and deficiency. Coordinates with maintenance and materiel management functions to ensure sufficient spare parts and maintenance are available to support the IBDSS equipment and component. Maintains Technical Orders and commercial manuals that describe equipment components and operating procedures for IDS in use. Develops local training for system operators. Assists the standardization and evaluation section in developing certification standards for system operators. Responsible for the management and administration of the physical access control systems (i.e. Defense Biometrics Identification System - DBIDS). Manages entry control point (ECP) related applications associated with DBIDS and the Security ForcesInformation Management System (SFMIS). Manages the functional and operational sustainment of all data processing programs such as DBIDS, SFMIS, and other systems installed and/or programmed for the ECP. Produces and maintains and related reports for command echelon personnel. Provides feedback to supervisor regarding identified or perceived base access vulnerabilities with recommendations for their mitigation. Reviews the operational status of sensor subsystems ensuring all required testing procedures are followed. Researches, interprets, and analyzes guidelines to ensure all work complies with legal and regulatory requirements. Performs additional related duties as required or directed. Develops goals and objectives that integrate organization and squadron objectives. Performs administrative office support functions and develops, coordinates, and publishes all SF installation level publications to include the Installation Security Plan, the Installation Security Instruction, and SF annexes to all installation plans. Performs installation security duties. Leads and manages SF programs designed to provide a secure mission environment. Establishes requirements for police services, physical security, and Anti-Terrorism programs. Establishes liaison between SF and civilian law enforcement agencies. Manages police services. Develops and writes localized SF policies and procedures. Manages installation entry control, visitor center operations, and special functions/events. Administers and manages Resource Protection and Crime Prevention programs. Manages Security Forces Management Information System (SFMIS). Performs and enforces the full range of SF duties within the military installation. Apprehend and detain violators of laws, rules, and regulations and turn them over to the Federal or civil police or other law enforcement officers for arrest and posting of collateral. Other duties as assigned.(temporary, minor, or incidental tasks)
Qualifications
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education or training in collecting and analyzing data effectively, efficiently, and accurately. Able to apply procedures and directives by reading and interpreting technical material. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively orally and in writing, using presentation and report formats. Demonstrated ability to follow directions, to read, understand, and retain a variety of instructions, regulations, and procedures. Learned ability to assess the surrounding environment to recognize immediate risk levels. Must have the education and validated understanding of the basic principles and concepts of the occupational series and grade for one of the seven organizational program disciplines and its applicable Security Series career. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have 24 months experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. -or- 1 year equivalent to at least next lower grade level ***Note: To qualify under the one-year Specialized Experience (SE) provision (when stated in the SE section), you must provide either: Two SF-50s (or equivalent) showing you were in the same occupational series at the next lower grade for at least one full year. The two SF-50s must span that full one-year period, from the older SF-50 to the newer SF-50 and reflect employment with the same federal agency. -or- One SF-50 (or equivalent) if your resume shows at least one year of continuous employment in the position reflected on the SF-50 (or equivalent).

MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Military Grades: SrA-MSgt/E4-E7 Desired Military Assignments: 3P0X1 - Applicants need not be assigned to the position or possess the AFSC to apply or be considered for selection. Education
Education Requirements: High School Diploma or GED Degree Required: N/A Degree Required to qualify with Education Only (No Specialized Experience): master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related You must provide transcripts or other documentation to support your Educational claims. To receive credit for Education, you must provide documentation of proof that you meet the Education requirements for this position. Substitution of Education for Specialized Experience: Combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements for the grade levels specified in the table, and may be computed by first determining the applicant's total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level; then determining the applicant's education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level; and then adding the two percentages. The total percentages must equal at least 100 percent to qualify an applicant for that grade level. Only graduate education in excess of the amount required for the next lower grade level may be used to qualify applicants.
