Duties
- As a SECURITY SPECIALIST (Indefinite, May Become Permanent), GS-0080-7 your duties are below. Performs developmental assignments. Performs developmental assignments of moderate difficulty where work procedures are established, and several specific guidelines exist. Work assignments consisting of a series of specific and related tasks have been selected to orient the employee in the practical application of basic occupational principles, concepts, and techniques. Assignments are combined with training to further develop analytical skills and techniques in the occupation. Assistance in solving problems is available from the supervisor or a higher-graded specialist. (40%) Performs recurring assignments. Independently performs recurring assignments of limited, but gradually increasing, difficulty and complexity. The employee is responsible for locating and selecting the most appropriate guidelines and procedures for application and making minor deviations to adapt the guidelines to specific cases. Analyzes routine problems that are encountered and resolves them. Refers deviations, problems, and unfamiliar situations to the supervisor for assistance. (30%) Participates in special initiatives, studies, and projects. Works with other specialists in planning and conducting special initiatives, studies, and projects. Assists in preparing reports and briefings outlining study findings and recommendations. (15%) Prepares written correspondence and other documentation. Drafts or prepares a variety of documents to include newsletter items, responses to routine inquiries, reports, letters, and other related documents. Performs other duties as assigned. D2521000

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Experience, education or training in collecting and analyzing data effectively, efficiently, and accurately. Able to apply procedures and directives by reading and interpreting technical material. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively orally and in writing, using presentation and report formats. Demonstrated ability to follow directions, to read, understand, and retain a variety of instructions, regulations, and procedures. Learned ability to assess the surrounding environment to recognize immediate risk levels. Must have the education and validated understanding of the basic principles and concepts of the occupational series and grade for one of the seven organizational program disciplines and its applicable Security Series career. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: GS-0080-7: Must have experience in the following: 1 year experience equivalent to at least next lower grade level. Experience with the applicable Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities applicable with the Security Series.

NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted position that requires military membership in a compatible military assignment in the Iowa Air National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of this excepted position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENT: Employment is subject to attaining and maintaining a clearance as required by this position. If the selectee does not possess the applicable security clearance when hired, application must be made within 30 days of the start date. Failure to make application for the required security clearance will result in termination of employment. Failure to complete prescribed courses may be cause for reassignment or termination of FTS. Education
