AIRCRAFT MECHANIC SUPERVISOR

Summary

This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) position. ARTs are part of the regular career civil service and enjoy all the benefits granted to Federal employees in the competitive civil service. In addition, ARTs are required to maintain their active membership in the AF Reserve unit where assigned. ARTs receive on average one weekend of military training per month. Duties

• The primary purpose of this position is: to serve as an Air Reserve Technician (ART) Aircraft Section Chief exercising technical and administrative supervision Through subordinate leaders and/or supervisors in accomplishing aircraft and associated inspections, components, systems, and ground support equipment are maintained in compliance with technical directives and in a timely manner to ensure the accomplishment of flying schedules, maintenance plans and make certain personnel are trained and ready to meet any exercise or contingency. DUTY 1: Performs work planning responsibilities. DUTY 2: Performs work direction responsibilities. DUTY 3: Performs administrative responsibilities. Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C for WG-8500 Aircraft Propeller Overhaul Family QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-8500 Aircraft Propeller Overhaul Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. The screen out element for this position is the ability to supervise as an AIRCRAFT MECHANIC SUPERVISOR JOB ELEMENTS: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of a wide range of principles, processes, and techniques of trade(s) and/or craft(s) supervised, knowledge of personnel management policies, practices, and procedures, including sexual harassment and Equal Employment Opportunity/ Equal Employment Treatment, knowledge of safety regulations, practices, and procedures, knowledge in using and maintaining a variety of hand and power tools, equipment, and precision measuring and/or rest equipment, knowledge in troubleshooting. inspecting, and/or tracing hard-to-locate detects or problems. 2. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, sketches, and technical specifications. 3. Ability to plan and organize work assignments to include determining resources required to accomplish mission. 4. Ability to implement sound personnel policies, practices, and procedures. 5. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. 6. Knowledge and practical application of MIS (e.g. CAMS. G0-81) programs. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT CONT'D: 1. Performs other related duties as assigned. 2. This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use. 3. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance. FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Heavy lifting (45-79 pounds). Moderate carrying (15-44 lbs.). Hours of straight pulling are! hour per week. Hours of pushing is 1 hour per week. Reaching above shoulder. Use of fingers. Both hands required. Hours of walking are 4 hours per week. Hours of standing are 10 hours per week. Hours of crawling are 1 hour per week. Hours of kneeling are 1 hour per week Hours of repeated bending are 3 hours per week. Climbing. use of legs and arms. ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS: Outside and inside (other than normal commuting). Excessive noise. intermittent. Constant noise. Electrical energy. Slippery or uneven walking surface. Working around machinery with moving parts. Working around moving objects or vehicles. Working closely with others. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
