Duties

• As an Aircraft Pneudraulic Systems Mechanic WG-8268-10 you will serve as a Pneudraulic Svstem Mechanic within a fuel systems shop responsible for inspection, repair and maintenance of aircraft fuel cells, water injection, entidetonant (ADI), and inflight refueling systems; utilize extensive knowledge of fuel systems maintenance practices and procedures, incumbent troubleshoots the systems and determines extent and type of preventive and/or repair maintenance required and performs all necessary repairs, installation, and operational checks. WORKING CONDITIONS: Works inside and outside, in very confining spaces, in inclement weather, on icy and slippery ramps, aircraft surfaces and work stands, and in temperature and humidity extremes. Subject to the dangers from exposure to toxic fumes, high pressure air and fluids, fast actuating metal aircraft surfaces such as landing gears, speed brakes, missile doers and flaps; engine noise, heat blast, intake suction: rotating propellers; explosive munitions; electrical voltage, cartridge actuating devices: liquid oxygen, fire or explosion of aircraft fuels, lubricants, paints and solvents. Physical efforts involve climbing. stooping, standing, stretching, bending, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Requires moderate to strenuous physical exertion. Lifts heavy equipment and components weighing from 20 to 30 pounds and occasionally up to 80 pounds. Subject to the dangers of skin irritation from aviation fuels, lubricants and solvents.

Qualifications

AREA OF CONSIDERATION: This position is in the Excepted Federal Civil Service "under the authority of 32 U.S.C. 709", and is open to Category 1: All permanent/indefinite (T32 and T5) technicians employed by the agency Category 3: All current military members of the Florida National Guard; and Category 4: All individuals who qualify for membership in the Florida National Guard and are willing to become T32 Dual Status technicians. First consideration will be given to Category 1. PCS: Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs, MAY be authorized. Authorization for payment of PCS expenses will be granted ONLY after determination is made that payment is in the best interest of the Florida National Guard. Recruitment / Relocation: Incentive MAY be authorized. ONLY after determination is made that payment is in the best interest of the Florida National Guard. Military Grades: Enlisted- E5 & Below GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must have experience or training which demonstrates the applicants knowledge of materials and equipment used in the line of work (helmets, torso harness assemblies, parachutes, survival equipment). Ability to understand written instructions and to use reference materials and manuals. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: WG-10 must have at least 18 months experience or training which has demonstrated knowledge of aviation life support equipment. Experience reading and interpreting military manuals. Experience in supply procedures and property accountability. Experience collecting information and presenting it to various sized groups. Experience in planning a functional shop maintenance program is essential. TEMPORARY PROMOTION- For Title 32 selectees only: This is an obligated position (incumbent is on a military tour). If a permanent employee in Title 32 excepted civil service accepts this position, he/she will retain their permanent status AND return to their previous Title 32 position once the incumbent returns from military duty. If the military tour member, who has reemployment rights to this position, does not exercise his/her reemployment rights within 5 years, the selected individual may remain in this position without further competition. INDEFINITE APPOINTMENT-For Current Title 5 selectees only: This is an obligated position (incumbent is on a military tour). If an on-board individual employed in Title 5 excepted civil service accepts this position, he/she will be converted to Title 32 and will receive an indefinite appointment (Tenure 3). If a Reduction-In-Force occurs and/or the military tour member exercises reemployment rights to this position, the indefinite appointee will have no reemployment rights to any other position and may be separated. If the military tour member, having reemployment rights to this position, does not exercise his/her rights within 5 years, this position may be converted to a permanent status without further competition. INDEFINITE APPOINTMENT-State National Guard Members (Not Current T5 or T32 Onboard) This is an obligated position (incumbent is on a military tour), and selectee will receive an indefinite appointment (Tenure 3). If a Reduction-In-Force occurs and/or the military tour member exercises reemployment right to this position, the indefinite appointee will have no reemployment rights to any other position and may be separated. If the military tour member, having reemployment rights to this position, does not exercise his/her rights within 5 years, this position may be converted to a permanent status without further competition.
