Summary
This National Guard position is for a ELECTRONICS MECHANIC, Position Description Number D1204000 and is part of the NJ CSMS 1, National Guard. The primary purpose of this position is to perform field and sustainment maintenance and repair on moderately complex electronics equipment and systems.
Duties
- As a ELECTRONICS MECHANIC, WG-2604-10, you will: Troubleshoot carrier electrical and power distribution system components of the weapon system or equipment being repaired. Provide technical assistance and instruction to units throughout the state so that they will be able to operate at the desired level of proficiency. Perform administrative functions in establishing and maintaining maintenance records on equipment maintained or repaired. Remove and replace defective electrical, electronic, and mechanical components. Conduct inspection, diagnose nature and extent of equipment malfunction. Replace faulty component on UUT printed circuit boards and power distribution systems. Install and applies equipment modifications when directed. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must have general experience in the follow: Knowledge of electrical or electronic theory, and testing procedures Using hand tools of the electronics trade, and skill in reading schematics SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have 18 months specialized experience in the following: Utilizing principles, basic functions and application of theory of electronic systems or equipment Diagnosing problems and determining needed repairs for malfunctions in electronic equipment or systems Making mechanical repairs that required the use of precision measuring and calibrating equipment Using complex test equipment such as deviation meters, complex special test panels, etc Demonstrating the ability to interpret technical manuals, specifications, and publications
Requirements
MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard.NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. Additional Employment Requirements: Participation in direct deposit is mandatory May be required to successfully complete a probationary period Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service Areas of Consideration:CAT III: All Title 32 Employees within the New Jersey Army National Military Grades: E-5 to E-8 Applicant(s) (Enlisted) who are over grade must clearly state, in their resumes, their intentions to willingly take a reduction in grade. Title 32 Dual-Status Positions: Compatible Military Assignments. Appointments may require the selected candidate to be assigned to a *military unit* compatible with the full-time Military Technician (Dual Status) position.
