About the Position: The incumbent will serve as a Supervisory Public Affairs Specialist for USSOUTHCOM at the Inter-American Defense College in Washington D.C.

Duties

• Serve as the Director of Strategic Communication and External Relations (STRATCOM/ER) for the Director of the Inter-American Defense College (IADC).
• Advise management regarding the formulation and articulation of agency policy pertaining to the release of information to the public.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of information and communication programs to continuously improve the organization.
• Develop and disseminate informational materials to the general public.
• Implement a strategic communications and engagement program to promote the academic excellence offered at IADC, its programs and activities, and the value of the organization to Western Hemispheric security.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all media sources throughout the community.

Develop informational materials to distribute to the public based on the identification of communication needs; 2). Generate awareness among the public through the implementation of strategic outreach programs throughout the community; 3). Assign work to personnel based on priority to meet organizational deadlines; and 4). Ensure the events of distinguished guests' schedules are punctually organized. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-14 or above). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-14).
