Summary

You will serve as a PHYSICAL SCIENCE TECHNICIAN in the FUELS DEPARTMENT, OPERATIONS DIVISION of NAVAL STATION. ***This Job Opportunity Announcement is using an additional online assessment tool to evaluate applicants. Duties

  • You will inspect and sample a variety of tanks, tank trucks, single product tankers, pipelines, barges and other media associated with the storage and transportation of petroleum products.
  • You will analyze test results and perform routine calculations while ensuring that fuel impurity levels are within safety limitations.
  • You will maintain records of fuel tests, independently interpret test results, and notify affected ship and/or activity and supervisors of any questionable findings.
  • You will calibrate and perform limited maintenance/repair on laboratory test equipment, provide quality control and inspection services for all products received, stored, issued, or transferred at the Area of Responsibility (AOR).

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-06) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing most or all of the following duties: 1) Conducting and analyzing a wide variety of chemical and physical tests while applying physical science principles and methodologies; 2) Providing quality control and inspection services; and 3) Assisting with corrective maintenance of laboratory equipment to support warfighting readiness of operating units. Education
