Duties

  • You will serve as a delicatessen/bakery assistant.
  • Help in the preparation, presentation and serving of specialty meats, delicacies, preserved foods, cheeses, salads, breads and sweets to patrons.
  • Answer customer questions about specialty foods.
  • Using prepared ingredients, you will make hot and/or cold sandwiches, fruit and vegetable trays, salads and rotisserie chicken.
  • Responsible for cleaning counters and trays, washing dishes and maintaining cleanliness in preparation, work and display areas.
  • Inspect and clean equipment as required.

Ability To Do The Work Of The position Without More Than Normal Supervision Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Dexterity and Safety Knowledge of Materials Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Work Practices Physical Effort: Work requires light to moderate physical effort. Workers are subject to continuous walking, standing, bending, pushing and pulling. May be required to work on ladders and use powered cleaning equipment. Frequently lift or move objects weighing up to 40 pounds; lift heavier items with assistance. Working Conditions: The work is normally performed in deli or bakery area where some temperatures may be uncomfortable. Areas are well lighted, but there may be dangers of slipping on floors, exposure to hot surfaces and liquids, sharp cutting utensils, and extreme temperatures when entering walk-in refrigerators or frozen food units.
