Performs a variety of specific duties designed to develop knowledge and skill in applying program management responsibilities in support of systems acquisition. Participates in the development of management information systems (MIS) in support of customer needs. Carries out special projects designed to facilitate the full use of the intern's training and development. Keeps abreast of emerging technologies and professional developments to maintain currency in the field and for application to work assignments. GS-09 Participates in the planning and requirements determination process for Cyberspace and Information Technology (CIT) systems projects. Participates in program management responsibilities in support of systems acquisition initiatives. Performs management information system (MIS) assignments in support of customer needs. Carries out special projects designed to facilitate the full use of the intern's training and development. Keeps abreast of emerging technologies and professional developments to maintain currency in the field and for application to work assignments. *This is a formal AF intern position in the Recent Palace Acquire Program (PAQ) and as such, it is centrally funded by HQ AFPC/DPZS.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the general experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Professional and Scientific Positions. BASIC REQUIREMENT: Degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks. Education: All academic degrees and coursework must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions *In addition to meeting the basic qualification requirement listed above, you must also meet the requirement for the following grade level(s). **All educational requirements must be met no later than June 2026. 1. GS-7: Bachelor's degree with Superior Academic Achievement (S.A.A) for two-grade interval positions in a course of study that directly reflects the job-related KSAs/competencies necessary to satisfy the minimum qualifications and perform the duties of the position. S.A.A. is based on (1) class standing, (2) grade-point average, or (3) honor society membership. a) Class standing-upper third of the graduating class based on completed courses in the college, university, or major subdivision. b) Grade Point Average -Grade-point averages are to be rounded to one decimal place. For example, 2.95 will round to 3.0 and 2.94 will round to 2.9. c) Election to membership in a national scholastic honor society (note: freshman honor society cannot be used to meet the requirements of this position). *Submit a copy of your transcript, (a degree audit will not be accepted). If qualifying based on class standing or honor society membership, provide appropriate documentation. 2. GS-9: Master's (or equivalent graduate degree such as LL.B. or J.D. as specified in qualification standards or individual occupational requirements) in a course of study that directly reflects the job-related KSAs/competencies necessary to satisfy the minimum qualifications and perform the duties of the position, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Professional knowledge of basic principles, concepts, and practices of operations research analysis to apply scientific methods and techniques to analyze systems, processes, and/or operational problems and procedures. Knowledge of mathematics and analysis to perform minor phases of a larger assignment and prepare reports, documentation, and correspondence to communicate factual and procedural information clearly. Skill in applying basic principles, concepts, and practices of the occupation sufficient to perform routine to difficult but well precedented assignments in operations research analysis. Ability to analyze, interpret, and apply operations research rules and procedures in a variety of situations and recommend solutions to senior analysts. Ability to analyze problems to identify significant factors, gather pertinent data, and recognize solutions. Ability to plan and organize work and confer with co-workers effectively.
