About the Position: The position is located at the dinning facility in Blanchfield Army Community Hospital, Fort Campbell, Tennessee. The position is a fast-paced and customer-focused environment dedicated to providing quality food service. The work environment is dynamic, requiring attention to detail, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to maintain cleanliness and organization in a high-traffic area. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation
Duties
- Prepare and cook a wide variety of foods, including meats, poultry, fish, vegetables, soups, sauces, gravies, starches, and baked goods, following standardized recipes and production schedules.
- Perform various cooking methods such as baking, roasting, frying, broiling, steaming, sautéing, and grilling, ensuring proper cooking, flavor, and presentation.
- Follow daily or weekly menus, ensuring all items are prepared and ready for service at designated times.
- Monitor food quality throughout the cooking process, making adjustments to seasonings and cooking times as necessary.
- Maintain a clean and organized workstation, cooking equipment, and kitchen area throughout the shift.
- Operate and clean a variety of commercial kitchen equipment, such as ovens, ranges, griddles, fryers, mixers, slicers, and steam tables.
- Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and communicates needs to supervisors to ensure adequate stock.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Cook ~ without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common duties such as preparing and cooking a variety of simple menu items that require little or no processing. Setting up, preparing, and serving a variety of hot and cold food cafeteria style. Operating and cleaning basic kitchen equipment. Following sanitary procedures to keep work areas clean and safety procedures in food handling. Preparing food in a variety of ways while weighing, measuring, and assembling ingredients for regular menu items. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. - Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision -Work Practices (Including Keeping Things Neat, Clean, and in Order) -Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) -Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. -Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment -Knowledge of Materials -Dexterity and Safety PHYSICAL EFFORT: Frequently lifts or moves objects weighing up to 40 pounds unassisted and occasionally lifts or moves objects weighing over 40 pounds or more. Work involves virtually constant standing and walking, reaching and stooping, pushing and pulling, and bending. WORKING CONDITIONS: The kitchen is hot and noisy at times, and there is exposure to temperature extremes when entering walk-in refrigerator from the kitchen. There is exposure to steam, fumes, and cooking odors, and danger of falling on floors which has been freshly mopped or where food has been spilled. There is danger of bums from steam or hot foods, cuts from knives or machines. Work involves exposure to noise levels above 85db(A), requiring the use of hearing protective equipment. Working conditions have been considered in the evaluation of this job. Employees are required to wear any personal protective equipment as applicable to their duties.
