Summary

About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and is located at the Auto Hobby, RAF Mildenhall, United Kingdom. Shifts may include days, nights, weekends and holidays. Duties

  • The purpose of this position is to provide assistance to the Automotive Worker and assistance to patrons with minor repairs and tune-ups of automobiles, etc. in addition to other related tasks associated with the Auto Hobby Shop. Assists with the maintenance and repair of automotive engines, parts and accessories. Provides assistance with tune-ups, troubleshooting and inspection of various types of vehicles, their components and systems. Issues and accounts for a variety of automotive tools and test equipment. Ensures that customers complete and sign all resale records, collects fees and charges for various type of automotive services performed. Assists in the administration of Auto Hobby Complex through issuing, receiving, storing and accounting for various type of automotive parts and equipment for resale to customers for the repair and maintenance of their vehicles. Assists in the dispositioning of scrap/abandoned vehicle received from Security Police. Operates recovery vehicles and worklifts. Able to load and unload vehicle using equipment in a safe and timely manner. Monitors the levels and disposition of hazardous waste for the Auto Hobby Complex. Operates automatic tire changer, electronic spin balancer, power brake bleeder, and various standard engine tune-up and troubleshooting tools and equipment. Perform schedule and unscheduled maintenance on the Force Support Squadron vehicle fleet. Offer patrons advice, consultation, quotes, appointments and inspection as required. Ensures that patrons observe fire, safety and good housekeeping practices. Ensures that the facility is properly secured at the close of business to include accounting of tools, equipment and funds. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience: Must have working knowledge of the operation, installation of components assemblies and systems of vehicles. Must be familiar with engine analyzer, front end alignment machine, hand tools, automotive test equipment and brake turning equipment. Must be physically able to frequently lift, handle and carry objects weighing up to 40 pounds, and occasionally, with assistance, objects weighing up to and over 50 pounds. Must be able to frequently stand, bend, stoop, crawl, and work in tight spaces for a long period of time. Be able to read and interpret repair manuals. Must be able to satisfactory compete a pre-employment physical. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of suitability and fitness for the position.
