Summary

Duties

  • You will inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain generators, transfer switches, and related electrical systems.
  • You will maintain portable and stationary generators, ensuring readiness for emergency response.
  • You will install, modify, test, and repair electrical equipment, wiring, breakers, relays, and controls.
  • You will inspect and service mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and fuel systems.
  • You will monitor fuel levels, refuel equipment, and maintain fuel records.
  • You will comply with OSHA, NFPA, EPA, and environmental regulations while documenting work and maintaining a safe work area.

Qualifications

Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION: Performing common tasks including the ability to read and use technical manuals, illustrations, diagrams and schematics, and skill in the use of equipment and hand tools used for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing generator equipment, automated and manual transfer switches, and auxiliary multi-fuel engine systems. Applicants must meet the requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Job Qualification Handbook for Trades and Labor Occupations.
