About the Position: This position is located at Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton, San Diego County, California A Recruitment Incentive may be authorized. Advance Leave accrual may be authorized for candidate who are new to Federal Service Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service. This is a Direct Hire Authority position.

Duties

  • Advise Medical Treatment Facility management on all matters related to the housekeeping program and environmental sanitation.
  • Explain changes in regulations, directives, methods and procedures relating to housekeeping and hospital sanitation or cleanliness.
  • Assign and explain work requirements and operating instructions to subordinates.
  • Plan use of workers' equipment, facilities and materials on a day-to¬ day, project by project and on a week-to-week or month-to¬ month basis.
  • Modify and implement standard operating procedures, quality assurance and control methods for the cleanliness of the various hospital areas and clinics.
  • Inspect areas such as patient rooms, wards, clinics, offices, conference and classrooms, locker rooms, housekeeping closets, and other areas maintained by contracted housekeepers.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) CUSTODIAL WORKER SUPERVISOR ~ without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common duties within a hospital housekeeping department. I can explain work requirements, methods, procedures; identify training needs to ensure employees are educated on regulations and techniques; ensure subordinates comply with established safety procedures ; ensure that adequate cleaning and housekeeping duties are completed; and assign tasks to be performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. PHYSICAL EFFORT: Must move and control heavy equipment, carry and set up ladders and scaffolding, and work from ladders and scaffolds. Frequently, lifts moderately heavy objects (about 40 pounds). WORKING CONDITIONS: Works indoors most of the time and outdoors occasionally. Exposed to conditions inherent in cleaning tasks described such as chapped hands or other irritation from working with strong cleaning agents. Possibility exists of serious disabling injury as a result of electrical shock from power cleaning equipment or from falling from scaffolds or ladders.
