Summary

This position is located in the Farm Service Agency, Vernon, Wilbarger County, Texas. The incumbent will receive on-the-job training to develop proficiency in all functions and operations of the Field Office. Duties include but are not limited to clerical support, loan processing and servicing, office management, general information, and public relations.

Duties

  • Assists the Farm Loan Chief, Farm Loan Branch specialists, Farm Loan Team managers, and District Directors on farm loan program procedural matters.
  • Provides training to individuals and groups in the preparation and processing of loan documents and on loan procedural changes.
  • Provides technical assistance to the Branch in processing bankruptcy and farm foreclosure cases.
  • Prepares and discusses with borrowers’ new promissory notes, terms, deeds of trust.
  • Determines the need for additional information and contacts.
  • Drafts releases or completes releases provided by the State Office for the media on farm loan activities for the supervisor’s approval.

Qualifications

For the GS-06 grade level: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in federal service or comparable experience not gained through federal service. Specialized experience is defined as: difficulty and responsibility to the GS-5 level in the Federal service or private sector equivalent applying office methods and procedures to provide clerical and limited technical support to process and service loans or agricultural programs. OR Education at the GS-06 grade level: One half year (9 Semester Hours) of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: finance, business administration, economics, accounting, engineering, mathematics, banking and credit, law, statistics, or other fields related to the position, such as agriculture, agricultural economics, farm, livestock or ranch management, or rural sociology. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience as listed above. For the GS-07 grade level: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in federal service or comparable experience not gained through federal service. Specialized experience is defined as: applying office methods and procedures to provide clerical and limited technical support to independently perform a full range of farm loan program processes. OR Education at the GS-07 grade level: One full academic year of graduate education or a master's or equivalent graduate degree e.g, LLB. JD, LLM, PhD in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: finance, business administration, economics, accounting, engineering, mathematics, banking and credit, law, statistics, or other fields related to the position, such as agriculture, agricultural economics, farm, livestock or ranch management, or rural sociology;. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience as listed above. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Requirements

You must be a US Citizen or US National. Males born after 12/31/1959 must be Selective Service registered or exempt. Subject to satisfactory adjudication of background investigation and/or fingerprint check. If selected, you may be sent instructions on obtaining fingerprints. Education

College Transcript: If qualifying based on education, you must submit a copy of your college transcript with course number and department (i.e., Bio 101, Math 210, etc.), course title, number of credit hours, and grade earned. Foreign Education: You must submit verification that education completed in a foreign institution, was recognized by an accreditation body accepted by the U.S. Department of Education. You must include a Certificate of Foreign Equivalency with your transcript. There are private organizations that specialize in this evaluation and a fee is normally associated with this service. Your transcripts must be in English or include an English translation. You may submit an unofficial copy of your transcript at the initial phase of the application process.
