Duties

  • Serves as the Sales Manager and is responsible for effective sales management within an assigned retail area or category. Leads by example and promotes a positive, professional, customer-focused environment consistent with MCX¿s mission, values, and culture. Responsible for achieving personal and department sales goals; supervising sales and merchandising activities; and ensuring appropriate staffing, scheduling, training, and development of team members. Executes sales programs, promotions, product launches, and special events while providing exceptional customer service and resolving customer concerns. Maintains merchandise presentation and visual standards, including floor sets, planograms, signage, pricing, and product placement. Develops product knowledge and selling skills, promotes add-on sales, identifies opportunities to reduce loss and theft, and ensures compliance with safety and operational standards. Supervises employees by assigning work, coaching, counseling, mentoring, approving leave, completing performance reviews, signing timecards, and recommending personnel actions. Supports training, career development, and leadership initiatives throughout the store. May serve as a key holder responsible for opening and closing the store and receiving merchandise. May perform stocking, inventory counts and corrections, price changes, planogram resets, light custodial duties, and other duties as assigned. May require food handling and customer service-related certifications. Must be able to lift and carry objects up to 20 lbs. independently and objects over 20 lbs. with assistance.

Qualifications

BACHELOR¿S DEGREE from an accredited college or university in a related field appropriate to work of the position, OR an appropriate combination of education and experience that demonstrates possession of knowledge and skill equivalent to that gained in the above, OR THREE YEARS of practical experience that demonstrates that the applicant has acquired the knowledge, skills, and abilities equivalent to that gained in the above. Experience working within a sales/selling environment required. One year of experience working in a supervisory role within a sales/selling environment is preferred. Advanced selling skills and techniques and product merchandising skills required. Ability to train operating standards and procedures for service, service recovery, sales leadership and store brand as well as work within the position to execute these standards properly and coach others within the team to do so with a high degree of skill and confidence. Ability to work in a high-performance atmosphere with commitment to service goals. Ability to multi-task with high-quality follow-up and holding teams accountable to results. Strong working knowledge of business processes, controls and system development. Attention to detail is required. FOR POSITIONS INVOLVING FIREARMS/AMMUNITION ONLY: This is a ¿covered position¿ for the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment to the Gun Control Act for Department of the Navy civilian personnel. Due to contact with firearms, or ammunition in accomplishing work, DD Form 2760 certifying whether or not a ¿qualifying conviction¿ for a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence has occurred MUST be completed. The continuing obligation to notify the immediate supervisor of any qualifying conviction through completion of DD Form 2760 is REQUIRED. Ability to successfully obtain/maintain a Tier 3 background investigation. MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN AND MUST BE AT LEAST 21 YEARS OF AGE.
