Summary

About the Position: Serves as a first level Supervisory Store Associate, in a Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA). The incumbent is responsible for all aspects of planning, scheduling, coordinating and controlling front end activities and personnel, and controlling all funds received and deposited daily as part of the front-end department operation. Specific assignments vary by individual store and store management requirements.

Duties

  • Directs and controls the operations and personnel of the commissary front end customer service department.
  • Modifies schedules based on personnel capabilities, planned and emergency leave schedules, and position vacancies.
  • Monitors and supervises all register transactions.
  • Ensures new personnel receive proper orientation and ensures on-the-job training is provided.
  • Personally, conducts or oversees cash pickups at various times during the work day.
  • Responds to customer questions and issues.
  • Reviews financial reports related to cash accountability and enforces procedures for control and protection of commissary funds.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Leading and supervising multiple departments within a grocery store; 2) Utilizing automated systems to generate report; AND 3) Providing on-the-job training for new workers. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level in the federal service (GS-05) You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Accountability Conflict Management Customer Service Developing Others Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).
