Summary

The position performs accounts receivable support functions through the follow-up process of outstanding patient accounts within the Business Office. This position is located in Dzilth Na O Dith Hle Health Center, Bloomfield, New Mexico. A REAL ID will be required beginning May 7, 2025, in accordance with 6 C.F.R. 37.5 (2021).

Duties

  • THIS POSITION IS BEING READVERTISED TO SOLICIT ADDITIONAL APPLICATIONS. APPLICANTS WHO APPLIED PREVIOUSLY NEED NOT REAPPLY UNLESS SUBMITTING UPDATED AND/OR MISSING INFORMATION. Reviewing patient accounts to determine status of the account, making standard adjustments that require special analysis, prepare and process a variety of documents. Performing work consisting of examination for accuracy, adequacy of documentation or citation compliance with regulations and justification of claims. Generating and maintaining appropriate documents on such patient accounts and refers to Supervisory Health System Specialist/Business Office Manager for disposition. Maintaining documents of all activity related/performed on patient accounts in patient financial folder. Making decisions, devises solutions and takes action based on program knowledge related to patient accounts.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: GS05: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Reviewing patient account records. Performing telephone contact with third party payers. Reviewing and examining various bill types. Following up on outstanding patient accounts. Reporting any discrepancies to supervisor. Preparing reports utilizing Accounts Receivable program. OR 4 years above high school. GS06: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Maintaining files system of patient accounts and making financial arrangements. Examining accounts to resolve difficult reconciliations. Maintaining documents of all activity/performed on patient accounts. Receiving and reviews all Explanation of Benefits from third party payers. Attending all continuing education opportunities. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
